SOUTH CAROLINA REAL ESTATE BROKER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

South Carolina Real Estate Broker License Requirements
  • 18 years old for salespersons; 21 years old for brokers.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • South Carolina real estate salesperson applicants must take 60 hours of pre-license education.
  • South Carolina real estate broker applicants must complete 150 hours of approved real estate education.
  • South Carolina applicants must pass a criminal background check by a source approved by the Commission.
  • Pass South Carolina state real estate licensing exam.
  • After passing exam, South Carolina applicants must apply for a provisional salesperson license within one year and take an additional 30 hours of post license education within the first year of licensing.
  • Provisional salespersons must be sponsored by a broker-in-charge.
  • South Carolina broker applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of active licensed experience within the immediate 5 years prior to the application.
